Does it at all matter?
Many say, I2P is a high latency network and you can do little
locally to improve your experience. Untrue.
While Raspberry class users will see a BIG difference, everybody
will benefit.
1) Round trip times for local traffic are down in the area
of > 100 ms thanks to improved message forwarding and
crypto-key pregeneration. Definitely noticeable for heavy torrent
users.
2) Small improvements add up. Cuts on
CPU, improved multi-threading strategy and eliminated wait for crypto-keys cut several ms out of every
packet travelling through your router.
3) More reliable, faster connections
contribute to the entire network. If you run
thousands of tunnels you will be cutting several seconds of
waiting time out of the network every second.
