Servers that are currently (2019) participating in the network are:

  • irc.00.i2p
  • irc.postman.i2p
  • irc.echelon.i2p

The rules

For more detailed internal rules concerning the terms of use of the service:

  • read when connecting to IRC2P with the command: '/rules'
  • or read them on the I2P website of Postman

The rules basically comprises the following points:

  • Respect for other users
  • Explicit prohibition of spam or unsolicited advertising in any direction
  • As well as flooding or very rapid repetition of messages
  • Abuse services, both user registration / channels
  • Ban on using bots or robots without the consent of admin
  • And who has the last word, are the admins

The Admins

The admins or network operators are: postman, zl0, and eche|on.

They are responsible for all services and can be contacted mainly in the channel #i2p or #irc2p.

Basic commands

  • '/help' general help
  • '/join #channel' allow you to enter #channel
  • '/list' display the list of channels
  • '/msg nickserv' help for details of how to register a nick
  • '/msg chanserv' help command to get help on the "command" in relation to the administration of the channel
  • '/msg chanserv flags #CANAL USUARIO +H' the USER command to log always with the current permissions

Irc2P Accessible From Tor and Regular Internet Using Irc2P In-Proxy Service

An unofficial Irc2P In-Proxy service is hosted to help new user access Irc2P from Internet(Clearnet) and ask for help from right people, This service is provided in beta and only with the purpose of on boarding new users to I2P until they get to know how to access Irc2P using i2p router. we do not store any kind of data on our servers. we would like to inform you that this service is not an replacement and cannot provide same level of privacy as much as accessing Irc2P using i2p router so use this with caution and only if necessary.

It is recommended that user should join #irc channel if they are using this service to receive all important announcements and ask related help as there is no other point of contact available for this service.

Configure your IRC client

I2P(official Irc2P)

Start the I2P Router and wait for few minutes while it connects to Peers then go to your irc client and configure a new server and add:

127.0.0.1:6668

Note: The tunnel connecting to the servers of the IRC2P network is already pre-configured in the core of the I2P router. Therefore, it is not necessary to create or modify anything in the I2P router console.

You can modify the port number if you want, this is something possible in the configuration of I2P tunnels (http://127.0.0.1:7657/i2ptunnel/index.jsp). If you do, then you must also modify it in the IRC client.

Tor

Go to configure a new server and add:

Regular Internet(Clearnet)

Go to configure a new server and add:

irc.i2p.net:6668

Irc2P Bouncer Service Accessible From Inside I2P, Tor and Regular Internet

An unofficial Irc2P Bouncer Service is hosted to help users remain connected to Irc2P who wants to actively participate but faces constant connectivity issues which can be due to several reasons, This service is provided in beta and only with the purpose to help users remain online at Irc2P so they can participate in i2p more. we do not store any kind of data on our servers except a encrypted buffer in the case of user is disconnected, once the user connects the ecrypted buffer is pushed to user IRC client. We would like to inform we provide this service from inside i2p, Tor and regular internet(clearnet). This service from regular internet(clearnet) are intended for new users only. we would like to inform you that this service cannot provide same level of privacy as much as access Irc2p using i2p router so use this with caution and only if neccesary.

It is recommded that user should join #irc channel if they are using this service to receive all important annoucements and ask related help as there is no other point of contact available for this service.

Registration

This service requires registration before you can start using it. currently this service is in beta so registration is only available through Irc2P Channel #IRC. To register for Irc2P Bouncer Service you just have to send a message with your registered Nick on #IRC channel.

The Registered Accounts will be deactivated if there is no usage for a continous period of 30 Days and will be deleted if request for reactivation is not received with next 30 days of deactivation of account.

Configure your IRC client

I2P

Start the I2P Router and wait for few minutes while it connects to Peers then go to http://127.0.0.1:7657/i2ptunnel/index.jsp on your browser and create a new IRC client tunnel you can also use Tunnel wizard to proceed step by step:

  • Server or client tunnel - Client
  • Tunnel type - Standard
  • Tunnel name - Irc2P Bouncer Service
  • Tunnel description - IRC Bouncer Service for Irc2P
  • Tunnel destination - bnc.i2p:8989
  • Port - 8989
  • Reachable by - 127.0.0.1
  • Tunnel auto-start - Yes

once you have created the new client tunnel and it has started running then go to your irc client and configure a new server and add:

127.0.0.1:8989

Tor

Go to configure a new server and add:

347iert3qpopeblh.onion:8989

Regular Internet(Clearnet)

Go to configure a new server and add:

irc.i2p.net:8989
