Instruction-Letter: Setting the Router / NAT

You only need to read this, if you have next to the DSL-Modem a Router (or NAT).

If you are running more than one PC, you may have a router, switching the traffic between these machines.

Then you need to forward ports to your machine, on which Imule is running (and I2P internal or external).

Read the wikipedia.org about Forwarding a Port in the Hardware-Router.

1. Open your Internet Browser and mostly your Router is accessed by this adress: http://192.168.1.1

2. Maybe you need to enter a password

3. Then go to the page in the Hardware Router for Port Forwarding. Maybe this picture helps you to find the page:

4. Make an Entry for "I2P-IMule": Port 8887 for TCP and UDP:

5. With that setting IMule should be able to run with the internal I2P-Server.

If your want to surf as well eepsites (websites inside I2P) you need to configure your Browser (use a second one like Opera or Explorer for that).

Goto to Settings - Proxy, and let the Browser surf over "Localhost" , Port 4444

Instead of "Localhost" you can as well enter 127.0.1.1.

Tick the box, that local pages are not surfed over the proxy.

But as you can read this, you should already be in I2P ?

Congratulation.. then IMule will run anyway...

But help your friends as well to configure I2P/ IMule and if would be nice, if you want to host a copy/mirror of this eepsite on a website.. then as well normal users can read the instructions.

The I2P-Mix-Router:

IMule is based on the I2P Anonymity Network.
Which is a Router or Mixer-Network.

Try to adjust the sliders in the graphical simulation above.

Download Imule

The *I*nvisible *I*nternet *P*roject ("I2P") is routing the Files from Alice to Bob over Peter, Paul and Mary. This means, a Tunnel is created (Alice -> Peter -> Paul -> Mary -> Bob), over which the File is sent.

Read the Instruction-Letter for your Router- or Firewall-Settings

Your IP-Adress is not shown to the requester or owner of the file.

Second, I2P uses no IP-Adresses to let Alice and Bob communicate, but virtual generated IP-Adresses, so called Base-64-Keys. Once an Anonymity Tunnel is created, many applications are routing Traffic over I2P, because it is (thrid) all encrypted, you even do not know, if it is an Email or a Mp3-File.

Fourth, IMule then uses as well *new*/*other* virtual generated Client-Keys, which stuck (saddle up) to the I2P-Base-64-Keys.

This means it is a perfect Mixer, anonymous Tunnel and all encrypted. Read more about I2P»
